Welcome to our AS9100D blog series!
With the publication of AS9100D behind us,
it’s time to plan start preparing for what’s to come. Here at Plexus, we are excited to help you and your organization transition to the 2016 revision of one the most widely used international standards in the Aviation, Space and Defense (AS&D) industry.
The AS&D industry produces high-risk and high-cost products and services and has tightly controlled industry requirements, making certification to AS9100D mandatory for organizations who wish to manufacture parts for the industry. As the designer and developer of the IAQG training and assessment program for certification body auditors, Plexus is fully equipped to train supplier organizations to the new standard,
and help them effectively implement the requirements of AS9100D, aligned with the expectations of certification body auditors.
AS9100D incorporates requirements of ISO 9001:2015 along with AS&D stakeholder’s needs, and meets the requests issued by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). With big changes from ISO 9001:2015 and significant industry specific changes, the thought of transitioning can seem overwhelming. To get you started in your preparation, Plexus has developed a series of posts to cover the most important changes from AS9100C to AS9100D.
Throughout this series, our experts will provide you with the information you need to know about key changes such as risk-based thinking, documented information, product safety, configuration management, counterfeit parts and more.
As you start making transition plans, keep these important dates in mind:
- June 15, 2017: Future audits must be to the 9100/9110/9120:2016 standards using 9101:2016 audit processes.
- September 15, 2018: Transition must be complete. All previous versions of the 9100/9110/9120 standards will no longer be valid.
